Who wouldn’t be amazed by the beautiful voice and sexy body behind pop and hip-hop songs such as My Humps and the enchanting female voice of the Black Eyed Peas (BEP) Where is the Love?
Stacy Ann Ferguson was born into a conservative religious family of schoolteacher parents. She has one sibling, Dana, who is also an actress. Ferguson’s acting and singing career started during her teenage years, but it must have been really difficult growing up in a divorced household. She experienced rough times during her teenage years. Despite her strict religious upbringing, she became involved with Mexican gangs and ended up addicted to crystal meth. However, these challenges didn’t hinder Ferguson’s success. She overcame her addiction, moved on and became a singing sensation with the Black Eyed Peas! She is currently enjoying a very successful solo career as Fergie.
Fergie started her career as a child actress in Kids Incorporated. With Stefanie Ridel and Kids Incorporated co-star Renee Sandstorm, they formed a female singing trio called Wild Orchid. After their record label refused to produce their third album, she decided to call it quits with Wild Orchid. In 2003, she replaced Kim Kill as lead vocalist for the very popular group the Black Eyed Peas. The Black Eyed Peas was already an underground success before Fergie joined the group. Her inclusion helped the band produce 2 more hit albums and move into mainstream popularity.
Although she has experienced great success as a lead vocalist, she has decided to try out a solo career. She released her first solo album, “The Dutchess”, last September 2006. The album title is a misspelled reference to the former title of the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, a person with whom she shares a surname and popular nickname. The Dutchess did quite well on the charts with the following four hit songs: “London Bridge”, “Glamorous”, “Fergalicious”, and “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. Her music is definitely Soul and R&B and she has made her mark on the Black Eyed Peas and vice versa. Although there were rumors of her leaving the band, she has publicly stated that she intends to stay with the band while pursuing her solo career. Besides, there doesn’t seem to be any conflict since the executive producer of “The Dutchess” album is none other than Black Eyed Peas band member, Will.i.am.
Fergie also did some acting aside from her “Kids Incorporated” stint. She had minor roles in the 1987 horror/comedy, “Monster in the Closet” and in the classic flick “An American Vampire” in 1997. Recently, she also played a minor role in the movie “Poseidon”. In fact, Fergie was the voice of Sally Brown, Charlie Brown’s sister in two Charlie Brown specials. She was the voice of Sally in “It’s Flash Beagle, Charlie Brown” in 1984, and “Snoopy’s Getting Married, Charlie Brown” in 1985.
This “Fergalicious” dame has truly come a long way. It’s hard to say what will be this talented woman’s next move. However, we should be all watching the charts for Fergie’s next songs as they’re sure to be a hit!
