Jessica Alba
Real Name: Jessica Marie Alba
Date of Birth: 28 April 1981
Place of birth: Pimona, CA
Profession: Actress
Not long after attending her first acting class, Jessica Alba, was contacted by an agent and the rest was history. Jessica’s first roles were fairly modest television appearances, but her largest role as a youngster was in 1993’s “Camp Nowhere”. Her role in the feature was purely accidental, and was offered to her because of her resemblance to the original star, who, dropped out of the film. Alba landed more slight television roles, along with some national commercial roles, until landing a recurring role in “The Secret World of Alex Mack”, which gave Alba adequate exposure to a peer fan base on Nickelodeon. Alba had another successful role in 1995, in the revival of the series, “Flipper”. She played the role of Maya, and enjoyed the location’s scenery and interaction with the wild sea life. After “Flipper” met its end in 1997, Alba had roles in many television series, including “Brooklyn South”, “Punks”, and “Venus Rising”. She also gained more attention by acquiring a role on “Beverly Hills, 90210”.
Alba gained much attention from her appearance in the 1999 films, “Never Been Kissed”, and “Idle Hands”, both of which experienced a modest amount of success at the box office. James Cameron was very impressed by Alba’s rising star, and offered her the title role in the series, “Dark Angel”, in 2000. Though “Dark Angel” was short lived, it did enhance Alba’s popularity, while also introducing a grown up Alba as a sex symbol, and a viable actress of the Sci-Fi realm. Jessica experienced a lot of acclaim for her role in the dance movie, “Honey”, and though the movie did not perform as well as expected, it proved to only further her position as a viable sex symbol. 2005 saw Alba participate in many different movie genres. She did her part in the more action-based, “Into the Blue”, while taking on the role of Invisible Girl in the Marvel Comics movie, “Fantastic Four”. Alba’s career has continued to flourish, and while she has been typecast in many simple buddy flicks, she has also met widespread acclaim for her roles in more serious, dark thrillers, like “Sin City”. Alba’s career is only beginning, and she continues to stand up for her artistic integrity, this rings especially true of an instance when she sued Playboy magazine for publishing her picture on the front of the publication, without her permission. The suit became a non-issue when she received an apology from the editor.
