Kate Bosworth
Real Name: Catherine Ann Bosworth
Date of Birth: 2 January 1983
Place of birth: Los Angeles, CA
Profession: Actress
Kate Bosworth was born in Los Angeles, California, but traveled all over the continental United States, until earning a role in Robert Redford’s 1998 film, “The Horse Whisperer”, due to her avid status as an equestrian. Bosworth was also very well-received as the star quarterback’s girlfriend, in the Denzel Washington film, “Remember the Titans”, which was a huge success for Disney. Bosworth was on the map after that film, and then continued to climb the acting ranks until receiving worldwide acclaim for her role in the 2002 surfing epic, “Blue Crush”. The movie was a critical and commercial success that touted Bosworth as a notable actress, and also a sex symbol. The movie completed her infiltration into Hollywood, as soon after she was speculated to be the on-again, off-again girlfriend of “Lord of the Rings” star, Orlando Bloom.
Bosworth continued in her acting career, receiving roles in films like, “Win A Date with Tad Hamilton”, “Wonderland”, and “Beyond the Sea”, which were all modestly successful moves for Bosworth. While none of the previous films were commercial hits, Bosworth still managed to stay in the public eye by signing on with many different cosmetic companies and consistently remaining in the tabloids due to her link with “Troy” hunk, Orlando Bloom. Bosworth’s biggest role to date would come in the reprisal of the “Superman” films, playing the role of Lois Lane. 2006’s “Superman Returns” proved to be a very commercially successful film, while also receiving quite a good share of praise from critics, who rarely give any compliments to comic-style adventure films. Bosworth is expected to be in more of the “Superman” films, since the prospect of a sequel is highly likely. Bosworth is now working on her role in the film, “The Girl in the Park”, which is a David Sandburg film revolving around the story of a three year old girl who’s disappearance still traumatizes the girl’s mother after fifteen years.
Interesting Facts
Kate is a very intelligent scholar and has been offered the opportunity to attend Princeton on many occasions, but has repeatedly declined the offer due to the ongoing success she has experienced in her acting career.
Though there has been much speculation as to the involvement of Kate Bosworth and Orlando Bloom in each other’s lives, it was made publicly clear in September of 2006 that they are no longer dating. The statement may prove to be short lived because of their continuing habit to breakup and then be seen around the set of their counterpart’s films.
Another interesting fact is her ability to remain faithful to the Appalachian Service Project, which is a once yearly commitment to assist the impoverished of the Appalachian Mountain range in states like Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Tennessee. Kate has been working with the Appalachian Service Project for many years and continues to be involved with such charity work even well into her high-profile career.
