Kristen Laura Kreuk started out rather modestly as a studious girl who was born and raised in Vancouver. Kreuk’s acting career started out with modest aspirations of attaining roles in the normal school plays, but started to take off when the producer of television series, “Edgemont”, sent casting calls to the local schools in the Vancouver area, one of which was Kreuk’s. Kreuk landed the part because of her different, yet pleasing looks. Though “Edgemont” would turn out to be a modestly popular series, but it did not spell the end of Kreuk’s young career. Kreuk became well-known after attaining the role of Lana on “Smallville”, a chronicle of the life of a young Superman. Kreuk continued to film “Edgemont”, while also filming “Smallville”, until the end of “Edgemont’s” run in 2005.
Smallville has proven to be a great catalyst for Kreuk’s acting career as it has given her many appearances in men’s magazines like Maxim, FHM, and Stuff, while also opening up her own aspirations as an actress. Kreuk has become a very familiar face on television, and is the most recent face in the series of many contracted to be in Neutrogena face wash commercials. She has also made her presence known as an activist in many philanthropic and environmental organizations, including: UNICEF, Greenpeace, and the Red Cross. 2004 was a big year for Kreuk as it took her passion for acting to the big screen for her role in the summer’s “Eurotrip” film, which chronicled fraternity boys’ trips across Europe, and was loosely based on the 2001 hit, “Road Trip”.
Kreuk also gained high ratings and critical acclaim for her appearance in SciFi Channel’s “EarthSea”, which was a fantasy/adventure film that tried to be the type of film that “Lord of the Rings” was. In 2007, Kreuk will star alongside Neve Campbell and other international stars in the film, “Partition”, which is a love epic that chronicles history and turmoil in many areas of the Middle East.

She could have just as easily not become a famous actress, as her role for “Edgemont” was the last part for the series cast, and could have just has easily been picked up by some other kind of “exotic” looking girls in the area.
Has many different artistic tastes and is very diverse when it comes to the kinds of books and music she enjoys. Jeff Buckley is listed among her favorite singers, and is tragically known for disappearing in the Mississippi River after wading in while singing Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks”. Also likes other progressive types of music such as: Radiohead and Coldplay.
