Who knew that playing a role where a young beautiful girl switches bodies with a thirty year old man would propel one to stardom? That is exactly what happened for Rachel McAdams when she starred with Rob Schneider in The Hot Chick with McAdams as an adorable but self absorbed cheerleader.
Before her arrival in Los Angeles, the talented young actress starred in Perfect Pie for which McAdams was nominated for a Genie Award (Canada’s equivelent for an Academy Award). She always knew she wanted to be an actress, and when summer theatre camp finally opened nearby, she was perfoming in the productions of Shakespeare by the age of 13.
McAdams went on to York University appearing in numerous student films and stage productions, where she graduated with honors with a B.F.A. degree in theatre, which remains her first love. She landed her first professional role as a girl with bulemia in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson and followed with a pilot for MTV.
After a few more movies, she grabbed even more attention in the hit Lindsay Lohan movie, Mean Girls (2004) and quickly followed that up with The Notebook, which gained her several Teen Choice Awards in 2005.
