Jennifer Lopez denies adoption
Friday, December 15, 2006
The rumor mill produced squeals of excitement from Jennifer Lopez fans with its gossip that Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony were adopting a baby from Puerto Rico. Reportedly, her husband and she have even gone so far as to try IVF. But despite all the couple’s luckless attempts to have a baby, Jennifer’s representative call the gossip false this time: they have no plans to adopt.
Of course, J-Lo might just be following the celebrity precedent of denying adoption reports till the baby’s en route. It would be a twist to her casual dismissal of the young top stars for being foolish and undiscerning. She claims not to think much about the top fashion-setters of today’s youth.
False reports of an adoption on the way have been followed by reports of Jennifer Lopez presumably being interested in the Church of Scientology. Her invitation to Tom Cruise’s recent wedding surprised folk; she hadn’t been associated with Cruise’s circle, before. She might have gotten an invitation for her interest in Cruise’s religion.
Sources say that Leah Remini, a “King of Queens” actress who also attended the wedding, has introduced Jen to the religion of Scientology over the years of their friendship. The self-help element of Scientology appeals to Jennifer, a source says; perhaps for her failed attempts to become pregnant? Other Hollywood stars have sought Scientology for help with children.
Her representative is reluctant to admit a connection between Jennifer Lopez and Scientology, but people have noticed her explaining the Church of Scientology and using its phrases when speaking with others. Just another rumor, or might there be something to this one?
