Christina Aguilera Cancels Remainder of Concert Tour
Grammy Award winning singer Christina Aguilera has had to cancel the rest of her world tour “Back To Basics”, stating she has a bad case of the flu. Many have speculated that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Jordan Bratman and is suffering from morning sickness or other side effects. Aguilera has yet to comment on being pregnant. According to her website, “Christina has no scheduled appearances at this time, please check back again soon.”
In a statement, Aguilera said, “I would like to apologize once again to all of my fans here in New Zealand for having to cancel my last two shows of my tour. This is my first time in your beautiful country and I have really been looking forward to performing for you all… Unfortunately, I caught a bad flu virus and I have not been able to recover in time. Thank you all for your continued love and support and I can’t wait for the next time.”
Aguilera’s doctors confirmed that she has a viral upper respiratory tract infection with abnormal coughing and a high fever.
Aguilera also cancelled two shows in Australia last week. Originally scheduled for July 28 and 29 in Melbourne, they were postponed, then later canceled.
Aguilera was the recipient of the “Best New Artist” award at the Grammy Awards in 2000 and was also nominated for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” for “Genie in a Bottle.” She received another Grammy Award in 2001 for “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals”.for her part in the remake of Patti LaBelle’s 1975 single “Lady Marmalade” with Lil’ Kim, Mya, and Pink which was on the soundtrack for the movie “Moulin Rouge!”
Christina Aguilera has also won a Grammy Award for her singles “Ain’t No Other Man” and “Beautiful” for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
