Aisha Tyler joins the fight against Anorexia

To make a very clear statement about nowadays ideal body image and the idealization of contemporary society regarding woman’s appearance, American actress Aisha Tyler has decided to take it all off and pose completely nude for the new issue of respected fashion magazine Glamour.

Glamour issue coming out this April 10 will include a detailed article regarding Hollywood’s anorexic problem and how it impacts on the body image concept of America. Former “Talk Soup” star and well known comedian Aisha Tyler will be posing nude to point a clear statement: stop this insanity of trying to look great by starving to death.

“You see these young actresses and these young girls and they’re like, killing themselves to be skinny, and that’s just crazy”, pointed out Aisha on ET’s Thea Andrews. “Young girls see these women and they seem fabulous, and they’ve got great clothes, and they look beautiful and they’re at the great parties” points out Aisha, “and they think, ‘If I starve myself, if I make myself super skinny, I’ll be as fabulous as that person’. They don’t realize that a lot of these girls are miserable, sick and on drugs; [their] hair is falling out and they look awful up close”.

Tyler, who interpreted Mother Nature on the blockbuster movie Santa Clause 2 was chosen to participate on this Glamour issue not only due to her indisputable good looks but also for the fact that she wrote the article “Real Women, Real Bodies” for the magazine in an effort focus on the grave issues regarding dieting, eating disorders and body image that currently assail USA.

“This is really like a ‘stop the insanity’ kind of piece that I wanted to do,” she points out. “You want to have the strength to live your life and do the things that you want to do, and you can’t do that if you’re starving to death. Stop making yourselves crazy.” A great suggestion to all those teenage girls out there that are growing up with a distorted point of view regarding beauty.
