Alicia Silverstone Does the Green Thing

“I love living this way,” says Alicia Silverstone when asked about her green lifestyle. The actress has dedicated her life to saving the environment and preserving the rights of animals. 

Alicia Silverstone began modelling from the age of six which then lead onto television commercials such as Domino’s Pizza. Eventually she was cast in the popular American TV series “The Wonder Years”. The actress then ventured out into movies and had a string of box office hits including, “Clueless”.  She made a name for herself by playing the dumb blonde routine. 

But Alicia is all grown up now, and she is anything but a clueless, dumb blonde. She married musician, Christopher Jarecki. The two have created a life together that is eco friendly. 

She shares her eco friendly life style with InStyle Home magazine (in stores this Friday). She shows off her wonderful home which features solar powered energy, energy saving appliances, and furniture made out of recycled flooring.  “It’s so satisfying and inspiring”, she says of her work campaigning for the environment and animal rights. 

A vegan and animal rights activist, in 2004 Alicia was voted “Sexiest Female Vegetarian” by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

Says Silverstone of her eco friendly lifestyle and work to save animals, “It’s just so lovely to appreciate the trees and birds and animals.” She is quick to point out that polar ice caps are melting and cites the toll pollution takes on our health, “Everything you do in the name of the environment not only saves your health, it saves your soul,” she says.

She has most recently been seen in the movie, ‘Scooby Doo 2’ where she played the villain in disguise.
