America Back in Traveling Pants
Wednesday, April 25, 2007
“Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera has been asked to reprise the role of Carmen, the character she performed back in 2005 in the Warner Bros. movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.
But it seems that the Honduran-American actress is not that happy about the idea. It appears that the film’s producers are actually exercising a particular clause included in the original movie contract where the renowned actress is essentially obliged to return for a sequel, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2”.
If such a particular clause exists then it is likely that the complete original cast will be coming back for the expected sequel. Co-stars Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively may be also participating on the projected second part of this movie based on a novel written by Ann Brashares in 2001.
The filming will be starting in June 2007 according to alleged studio sources. This is definitively quite fortunate for Ferrera and maybe part of the negotiations that took place in order to include the Latino star in this sequel, as the filming happily coincides with the popular series “Ugly Betty’s” shooting break.
“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is a Warner Bros. movie produced by Ken Kwapis back in 2005. Based on the novel of the same name, it centers on the story of 4 teenage girls that have been friends for the most part of their lives and are forced to be separated for the first time during School Summer Break. In order to keep in touch - at least in a certain way - they decide to share a pair of pants they bought together sending it by mail to each other all over the Summer.
To date, Ann Brashares has published three sequels, where the girls continue to share their passions and experiences as they grow up and reach womanhood.
