Carrie Underwood Winning More Awards
The fan-determined CMT Music Awards gave Carrie Underwood several awards this year. She won best video director, female video, and video of the year with her vengeance-loaded hit “Before He Cheats.” The song has her destroying a cheating boyfriend’s “pretty little souped-up 4-wheel drive” before dumping him; maybe “he’ll think before he cheats” on whoever the next girl is. She thanked her fans heartily for the award, telling them they made the last two years worthwhile. Her debut album, “Some Hearts”, sold over 5 million copies.
Last year had been her first ever acceptance speech, in a situation similar to Taylor Swift this year. Carrie Underwood gave Swift her award, but the new girl shook so badly from excitement she nearly toppled Underwood. Underwood says that was her, last year. Even this year, she nearly fell in the middle of singing “Before He Cheats” on the CMT Music Awards show.
The American Idol star started vocal sessions on Tuesday morning for her next album, which she claims will without a doubt be released this year. It looks like it’ll be a lot of upbeat songs that she happens to love. All songs have been chosen for the new album, some of which Underwood has helped write. The final cut only needs figuring out; she’s recording too many songs at the moment, but she’s so pleased with all of them that it’ll be hard to decide which ones will be archived for other use.
Carrie Underwood is learning more about the recording process as she goes, expanding her involvement in it for this next album. The song co-writing is part of that. Pleased to find that she wasn’t an outright bad writer, she hopes to develop her talent in that area.
