Cheryl Burke is Dancing with Love
Dancing With the Stars winner, Cheryl Burke, has a lot to be happy about. She has won the competition for the last two seasons (with partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith). And, she has a new love in her life—actor Mathew Lawrence ( who happens to be the brother of a Dancing With the Stars competitor, Joey Lawrence).
Cheryl and Mathew started dating in December; when she was on (the Dancing With the Stars) tour with Mathew’s brother Lawrence. She says that life is great with Mathew and describes him as a, “great, wonderful, guy”.
However, at the moment, love is taking a back seat to Cheryl’s preparations for the next season of Dancing With the Stars. Her new partner is Ian Ziering. She says that Ian is a perfectionists who gets frustrated easily and is too hard on himself.
Ian is a stark comparison to Cheryl’s partner of last year, Emmitt Smith. Cheryl claims that she and Emmitt are still good friends who keep in touch. At the beginning of preparations for this season, Emmitt called to tease Cheryl saying, “You miss me already, don’t you?”
She is both freaked and flattered by the amount of publicity she has received after her two wins. She said that she was freaked because one man proposed marriage. However, she is flattered when young girls tell her that she has inspired them to dance, “Just being known for a skill you’ve worked on your entire life is an amazing feeling.”
The pressure she puts on herself is not to win, but to make her partners the best dancers they can be. The trophies, she says, are falling apart.
When not working Cheryl spends time with her new boyfriend Mathew. The two like to go out to dinner and to the movies.
The new season of Dancing With the Stars can be seen Mondays, at 8pm, on ABC television.
