Dakota Fanning Creates Uproar With New Movie Role

Dakota Fanning Creates Uproar With New Movie Role

Dakota Fanning spent the weekend preparing for the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her new movie, Hound Dog.  The 12 year old has starred in over a dozen Hollywood films that include Dreamer and Charlotte’s Web. None of her previous films have created the uproar that has been buzzing about her performance in Hound Dog. In this film the 12 year old’s character is molested and raped.

Critics are yelling foul and a host of other words that can not be printed here.  Words such as pedophile and child molestation have caught the attention of child protective services agencies in Hollywood.  The agency first got word of the movie during filming and did an investigation at the time. Their final report stated that they could find no wrong doing and that the young star was in no real danger during filming.

The movie’s producer’s stated that Fanning chose to do the scenes and was not harmed in any way.  Fanning’s mother was on the set the entire time; as were a whole host of other employees including the film crew and director.  However, former Hollywood child actors have been speaking out saying that filming such extreme scenes does take an emotional toll citing examples of 12 hour shoots in which the actor must go through the scene over and over again. Child psychologists say they are concerned about Fanning’s emotional well being and whether or not she put her self in a state of having the emotional experience of being raped; and whether or not that will affect her later in life. Dakota Fanning defends the movie and those involved in the making and says that she had to do the movie because she became obsessed with it after reading the script.

It does have an effect on the emotional stat e of a young actor to experiance the emotions of being raped and molested. I think Dakota to the role not just because she became obssesed with it but she believed that she could handle it emotionally. Also the was no real danger, she was not really being molested and raped.
