Elizabeth Hurley’s Wedding Not All Bliss

Elizabeth Hurley’s Wedding Not All Bliss

A wedding should always be a joyous affair. But, it would seem that no amount of planning could stop the problems faced by Elizabeth Hurley and her husband Arnun Nayar as they traveled throughout India for a week long wedding celebration

The two first married in a secret civil ceremony in a small English village. Afterwards, the couple celebrated with friends Kate Moss, Elton John, and Hugh Grant. However, despite the couples intentions to keep their marriage a secret; word got out when the English circuit court released the records. It didn’t take long for the paparazzi to descend like vultures upon the small English village

Then, it was off to India for the couple’s spiritual marriage and a week of celebrating.

First, the wedding sparked controversy in the Rajasthan state assembly. One communist politician described Hurley’s wedding as a symbol of feudalism.

There were problems in Mumbai after authorities tore down part of a venue that was built to host the wedding party. Authorities in Mumbai said that the venue took up too much space on a popular section of beach.

But, the biggest problems seem to have been caused by tensions created by the paparazzi that is following the wedding party around India. Journalists were unhappy when they were banned from the wedding ceremony in the desert state of Rajasthan.

Tensions between journalist and the wedding party came to a stand off after the wedding ceremony. About 50 journalists attempted to break through the Meherangarh Fort to get photos of the wedding party as they were eating a traditional meal. One woman journalists complained of being hit by a guard.

Tensions grew so high that police were sent to guard the airport as Hurley and Nayar were set to leave the desert city of Jodhpur on Saturday.
