Heidi Klum Receives Third Emmy Nomination
For the third time in as many years Heidi Klum has received an Emmy nomination for her role in television reality drama series Project Runway.
The German supermodel is a producer who also presents the show and sits on the judging panel. Would-be designers compete for the chance of a huge prize in the fashion world – previous winners have been given the chance to design a line of clothing for New York Fashion Week, an Elle spread, money to start a clothing line and a mentorship with a top design company.
Although the winning designers show a great deal of skill and talent, Klum will not be commissioning any of the previous contestants to design her dress for the awards ceremony. She says, “The very first time I got nominated, I asked the winner of the first season, Jay McCarroll, to design something. He had all these great ideas, and then designed something that was absolutely not appropriate. It was not an evening, red carpet thing for the Emmys; it was like an MTV/Halloween costume! I could not have gone that way. At the end of the day, I said no.”
Filming for the fourth series of the show is currently underway.
Although Project Runway was nominated in its first two seasons for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program it has yet to win an Emmy. This year it is up against Top Chef, The Amazing Race, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
As well as presenting Project Runway, Heidi Klum co-hosts Germany’s Next Top Model with Tyra Banks. Klum also has experience as an actress, an artist and a singer.
Heidi Klum is currently married to singer Seal and this year marked their two year anniversary. The couple have two sons together - Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel – and Klum also has a daughter from a previous relationship – Helene.
