Kate Winslet Fights Back
At 5’foot 6” inches and weighing 130 pounds; Kate Winslet is definitely not fat. Nor is she incredibly skinny, like most Hollywood starlets. Over the years Kate has had her ups and downs weight wise. She gained 56 pounds after the birth of her first child, daughter Mia (age 6).
At the time of her weight gain, Kate was the joke of the media. Now, she has lost the weight and looks stunning. However, her rapid weight loss has won her media scrutiny. People are asking how Kate managed to lose the weight. Did she consult a dietitian or have surgery?
According to the British weekly, Grazia, the actress had help from a weight loss guru named Yi Pan of the Chinese Healing Institute in Santa Monica, California. Kate denies the claim and is suing the weekly tabloid. At the British Film Awards, Kate was asked about the story in Grazia. Kate replied, “I’m upset. It’s categorically untrue, it’s a complete lie”
This is not the first time that Kate has had a run in with the media over her weight. The actress claims that GQ air brushed her thighs for their February 2003 cover, “I can tell you they’ve reduced the size of my legs by a good third”. And, it is rumored that Harper’s Bazaar had super-imposed Kate’s head onto a thinner person’s body for their Jan. 2003 cover.
Kate was a patient of Yi Pan, but for a neck injury and not weight loss. Legal experts are not sure Kate’s law suit will hold up in court. The law suit is for defamation of character. The question is whether a claim about seeing a weight loss consultant is really defamation. Kate Winslet’s spokesperson says that the actress has no plans to sue Yi Pan or the Chinese Healing Institute.
