Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie, Lionel Richie’s 25-year old daughter, has made the celebrity news once again. Nicole is a familiar face on the party round in LA with her best friend Paris Hilton, who is also her costar on the TV show, The Simple Life. Nicole was arrested two nights ago in Glendale, California on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. After several motorists reported her erratic weaving and driving eastbound in the westbound lane of the 134 Freeway near Burbank, the highway patrol found her sitting quietly in her SUV and parked just off the Freeway in the car pool lane, the only occupant in her vehicle. At the time of the arrest, she admitted to having smoked some marijuana and to taking a Vicodin pill, a common painkiller. She was first taken to the Glendale-Verdugo Hills police station at approximately 1:45 a.m. Subsequently, Nicole was transferred and then released in the early morning hours from the City of Glendale jail on a $15,000 bond for a simple misdemeanor charge.
Nicole Richie has been arrested before on other charges and has spent time in and out of drug rehabilitation centers. In 2003, she was arrested for possession of heroin and spent several months in recovery until she was released on probation. In addition to her troubles with the law, it seems that she has also battled a serious loss of weight problem, as well. At one time, the television show had to be postponed, since she had checked into a facility for treatment in her inability to gain weight. At the time of this latest driving incident, it was noted on her booking sheet at the police station that Nicole weighed only 85 pounds. Her famous father stands by and defends her in every way possible, well aware of the pressures of being in the Hollywood media spotlight.
