Paris Hilton Off to Rwanda

Paris Hilton, evidently in a bid to live up to her post-jail statements of using her celebrity to do good things is heading to Rwanda after she completes filming her movie ‘Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Scott Lazerson of the Playing for Good organization originally invited Paris to visit Rwanda. Lazerson helped found the organization in 2006 to help high-end business and entertainment personalities become more involved in a variety of charities benefiting children and families in need.

Paris Hilton and Eva Longoria attended the inaugural International Philanthropic Summit in Mallorca, Spain in early September, sponsored by Playing for Good. The three-day summit ended with a ritzy black tie event with Longoria playing master of ceremonies and Hilton presenting the award for charitable excellence to ASPANOB, a group who contributes to children’s cancer research, patient care and family support.

Hilton said she wants to visit more countries where poverty and children’s issues are a big concern. “I know there’s a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues,” she said.

Hilton just bought a house and told E! Online that she wants to work on her home to make it more ‘green’ friendly.

At this time, Paris Hilton is filming her movie Repo!, a horror-musical with costars Sarah Brightman, former Buffy boss Anthony Head and Goodfellas Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega. The film is by the Saw films director Darren Lynn Bousman.

The film is set in the near future where an epidemic of organ failures force people to buy expensive new internal parts on credit. Default on the payments and you will be visited by the repo-man. The stage version opened on off-off Broadway in New York in August 2005, but closed less than three weeks later.
